Katherine Heigl, the beloved actress from Grey’s Anatomy and 27 Dresses, has just expanded her furry family not by one, but by three adorable rescue puppies!

On Monday, March 24, the Emmy-winning star shared an exciting video on Instagram, captioned simply: “Exciting News!” In the video, Heigl revealed her newest family members with a glowing smile and pure joy in her voice.

She declared “We adopted three new babies” while showing her evident love for them. She acknowledged that her mother never received the puppy originally since she has developed such a strong bond that giving it away might prove challenging. She laughed while declaring she might struggle to let the puppy go.

The short video displays three playful puppy pups as they wrestle with each other on the carpet. The older dog belonging to Heigl responds by warmly greeting her newly adopted family members. The dogs have coats that combine softness with curls which strongly matches poodle traits. One pup displays black and white coloring while the other pair presents black coats full of charming curls.

She has always demonstrated creative naming skills thus her latest chosen names proved no exception. She flashed her joyful smile as she explained that the black,and-white puppy was a male. “We named him Liam Neeson.” During the video capture of his little wrestling adventure Liam displayed his signature confident personality in the same way as his famous namesake.

Another pup, a small black one with curly hair, is being called Maeve Myrtle although Heigl admitted she’s still unsure about that one. “If anyone can think of a better name, I’m open to suggestions,” she said playfully.

The third puppy, whom Heigl affectionately calls the “silly little black one,” is named Clara Rose a sweet tribute to the actress’s great aunt Clara. In the video, Clara and Liam can be seen having a playful spat before quickly making up, like typical siblings.

The trio of puppies arrived just a few days after St. Patrick’s Day, which inspired their mostly Irish names except for Clara, whose name has German roots. Still, each pup has a name as unique and lovable as their personality.

Beyond her love for dogs, Heigl is also a passionate animal activist. In 2022, she launched her own line of health-focused dog food called Badlands Ranch. Her mission? To give pets the best nutrition possible. “It’s really rich in protein and full of healthy ingredients that support brain and immune health,” she explained. “You don’t need to overfeed, so one bag lasts a while.”

All profits from Badlands Ranch help support the Jason Heigl Foundation, a nonprofit that Heigl and her mother, Nancy, created in memory of Katherine’s late brother. The foundation works to improve the lives of pets through adoption programs, education, and healthcare.

For Katherine Heigl, giving back to animals isn’t just a cause it’s a way of life. And with Liam, Maeve (maybe!), and Clara now by her side, her home just got a whole lot cuter.
